About the Author

Elizabeth Wymarra was born on Thursday Island in the Torres Strait. Known for her work as a performing artist, comedian and playwright, she has studied visual and performing arts at the NSW TAFE in Sydney, and has completed a degree in Creative Writing. Elizabeth and her mother make many visits to Badu Island to research stories of their family and Torres Strait Islander culture.

Wandihnu Wymarra first began writing stories with her mother as a mother–daughter bonding exercise. Over the years they have made many visits back to Badu Island to reserach stories of their family and Torres Strait Islander culture. Wandihnu wrote her first play when she was just seven years old.
