Handmade Coolibah Coolamons
Crafted by Lindsay Boland and Zach Tattam
Handcrafted from coolibah wood sourced from St George in South West Queensland, these small coolamons invite children to explore, gather and carry as they play.
Created for children to use in outdoor environments, they are beautiful carrying vessels for sand, pebbles, leaves and twigs. Each piece has its own natural grain, shape and markings.
Through everyday play, these coolamons offer meaningful opportunities to yarn with children about how Our Old People crafted tools and carrying vessels from wood gathered from Country. They encourage curiosity about the knowledge, skills and resourcefulness of Our Old People, while connecting children with the makers who continue these practices today.
Made to be held, explored and enjoyed, these pieces support our children - our Future Old People to learn and connect with culture through hands-on experiences.
